Classic Winter Fashion From A Southern Girl

Considering that today’s temperature is not supposed to get above 17, I figured a classic winter fashion post was needed. Last week I shared a few of my favorite items that have jumped started my winter wardrobe. I am still building it piece by piece. Today I am not going anywhere without my pom pom beanie and a cup of something hot. We are traveling back from Connecticut where Chris had a job interview for a possible summer internship. I cannot wait to get home and literally snuggle up the rest of the day!

It is at times difficult to not look like a marshmallow with all the layers you have to wear going out of the house. I was telling my mom the other day everything I put on first thing in the morning. She exclaimed that it sounded like a lot of work. It is. If you want to stay warm, you learn that a little effort goes a LONG way. This fleece lined beanie and these UGG boots are 2 more items from which I have already got my money’s worth. Currently I am looking into real snow boots for the winter months ahead. 🙂

It may be premature to say I have enjoyed the season so far, but I truly have. Looking out the window while it was snowing the other day, I thanked God for allowing me to experience something so different than what I was used to. There is something quiet about the winter months. It is still and a reminder to rest. There can be no spring without a winter. I feel like winter can be God’s call to just be. To stop running around crazily everywhere and be still. Before the gorgeous blooms of spring, the ground must go dormant. It doesn’t mean they are not alive rather they are just in suspended animation, conserving their energy for later. Winter in a way can be a time to recharge so we are ready for spring again in our life. I am looking forward to using the next few months to read, to spend time with George and maybe take that little nap. It is going to be my time to prepare for spring.
