Dress Up Your Favorite Plaid Shirt This Holiday Season
It is no secret that plaid shirts have their shining moment during the holiday season. Specifically flannel plaid. They are warm, cozy, and feel like pajamas. You might think of a plaid shirt as something you would wear to cut your Christmas tree down or to pay a visit to your local farm. A plaid shirt can be so much more and today I will show you how to refresh your favorite one.
When I think of a plaid, I think of a layering piece. They look chic under sweaters and paired with cardigans, but why not layer UNDER them. Recently I paired my favorite seasonal flannel plaid shirt with my chambray shirt underneath. It is not nearly as hot as pairing it with a sweater and I love the way the chambray shirt made it a bit more interesting. Pop that chambray collar and wear your favorite statement necklace for an instant classic look. My exact plaid shirt is from Land’s End but is sold out. Here is another option that I like!
If you think a plaid shirts cannot be work attire, think again. When paired with a pencil skirt and blazer, a plaid shirt comes to life for the work place. To keep things interesting, style a leopard pump or bootie for a little pattern play. Plaid provides the perfect opportunity to print mix. Pair a plaid with stripes, leopard, another plaid, or polka dots for a fresh look. For a holiday party look, pair a plaid shirt with a sequined skirt or pants.
A plaid shirt left unbuttoned and thrown over your favorite graphic tee is a great casual look. For us Louisiana girls, a plaid shirt styled this way with our favorite denim shorts and booties will probably be the look that we can turn to over and over. So how are you going to style your favorite plaid shirt this season?
