Happy Wednesday everyone! It is safe to say, here in New York it is beginning to feel like fall. I even saw a tree’s leaves turning a bright red color. What?! For a Louisiana girl this fall is going to be magical! The mornings here are low 60s and even 50s. It warms up to about 75 during the day and that is with no humidity. That makes all the difference. While George and I play outside I never break a sweat. Hello, I could get used to this. Then again, I haven’t experienced an Ithaca winter yet! 🙂
It is hard to believe that fall is just around the corner. There are so many summer basic pieces that can end up as fall staples. Fall is a great time to add to your wardrobe and use light layers. You will find a few of my summer items that I am not ready to throw out when the temps cool down.
A few weeks ago I posted this fabulous striped dress. This dress is the definition of comfort. It is incredibly soft and very versatile. When the mornings are cool this is the perfect dress to pair with a cardigan. This cozy Madewell cardigan I snagged during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. It is oversized and my ABSOLUTE favorite. Navy is also one of those colors that tend to go with everything! Win!
Jean shorts are another summer basic that can be a foundational piece for fall. I love the combo of a chunky knit with shorts. Style them with your favorite bootie and you have a perfect seasonal look. My favorite shorts are a bit oversized and are a light wash. This look was the topic of my favorite post a few weeks ago!
Another fun summer piece that is great for fall is the bandanna. I have yet to purchase one, (I know late to the game) but I absolutely love the look with all the sweaters out there. The bandanna is a nice touch if you do not want to wear a chunkier scarf. I adore this olive green one from Anthropologie.

I wanted this cardi so badly in this color!! I got it in the taupey brown color instead, but may end up getting this one too. And those leopard flats are so so cute!!
