Summer Motherhood – Making The Most Of The Time

Floral Maxi Dress || Summer Motherhood

Summer motherhood looks different in a lot of ways than the other months of the year. George is only a year and a half so he is not in school. For me, as a teacher though, I have been used to following the school calendar for 8 years now. I have to admit, I am all about a routine. I thrive on one. As I enter the summer months and into this new chapter of our lives, I know life is going to look different. My normal school time routine will not be a part of my life any more. George and I are going to have lots and lots of “extra” time together.

This past week, I have really pondered about making the most of the summer months. For me, they are my final days here in Louisiana at least for the next 2 years. They are also days that demand extra patience and a whole lot of grace. I want to be that mom that puts her whole heart into the summer months instead of wishing them away for a silly routine. I want to be creative in coming up with new crafts and ideas to entertain G. I want to take time to hold him a little longer. Summer to me means a time to catch my breath and enjoy the small moments. The Popsicles on the porch, the extra bed time story at night, the baking sessions in the kitchen and the walks to the park. They are small moments that have become my favorite times. I do not have lessons to worry about and I can totally focus on being mommy. It is amazing, when everything else is stripped away how satisfying motherhood is.

So the next time I find my self looking at the clocking and counting the minutes till bed time, I will remind myself they are minutes I never get back with my boy. I want to make the most of each of those minutes this summer. I am going to start a new post series at least 1-2 Mondays a month called Motherhood Mondays. These posts will cover everything from what I am working on with George, schedules for a toddler, fashion for boys and more. The beautiful part of blogging is that it grows with you. Motherhood is the season of life I find myself in, so I want to incorporate that into more of my posts. If you have any ideas or post topics you want to see, let me know! As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a fabulous Monday.

**The version of the dress is not out just yet, but I linked the same brand in the gray and blush version!

I loved reading this!!! I’m the mama to a 6, 4 and 3 year old and to be honest, I’m a bit scared of summertime. I also thrive on routine so recently I’ve had numerous conversations with myself to remember it’s summer, they grow up so quickly and to truly embrace the CHAOS! Wish me luck 😉

I can totally relate! As a teacher I get so used to the routine of the school year! But due to our move across the country, I won’t be going back to school in August. So I am having to totally adjust to being at home with my 1 year old full time… Trying to enjoy it all! Love the dress too girlfriend!!
