Thoughts On Springtime As A Mom: Embarking On A New Season

Springtime Thoughts

Words cannot express how thankful I am for springtime this year. I truly questioned if it would ever arrive! Winter was long ya’ll. Too long if you ask me. I think I hit my wall at the end of February when I saw everyone back home pulling out the shorts and flip flops. Once a southern girl, always a southern girl in my opinion. I finally packed up my winter closet on Thursday and realized that I had had most of those sweaters out since the end of September. Way to long! You know what is even more depressing? We are already in May which means we have on a short 4-5 months before cool weather arrives again. 🙁

Moving on from complaining! Springtime has me extra excited to get back out doors with G and explore the area. George absolutely is the happiest outside and I know that is what made the colder months the hardest. He would beg to go outside only wanting to come right back inside a few minutes later. With sunshine in full force here, we are spending every minute at parks and taking long walks.

Springtime to me is a fresh start. It’s time to air out the house, wash all the bedding and pillows and keep gorgeous blooms on my table. It is the time of year that I always look up at the cloudless blue sky and think how good it is to be alive. As we embark on this week of celebrating the moms in our lives, I find my self reflecting on how grateful I am to have the privilege of being a mom. Motherhood has taught me a lot about myself and shown me areas I need to grow in. It has stretched me in ways I never would have been stretched and made me see the world thru a different lens. It has grown my faith and my prayer life and made my lean on God more than anything. I have realized in becoming a mother that life isn’t about me as much anymore as it is about George. It is my job and responsibility to prepare him for the world. That’s a terrifying thought in today’s world! With a new season in front of me, I am harnessing winter’s pent up energy to fully enjoy everything the next few months have to offer.

What are your favorite activities to do with your kiddos in the warm months? Leave me ideas! 🙂
