It is hard to believe that Easter is just a few weeks away. For this fun time of year, Easter egg decorating is a no brainer. These pretty candy colored Easter eggs were as fun to make as you would think. George “helped” by eating the sprinkles and trying to get a few of them actually on the egg. It is funny how ideas just hit you when you are out and about. This idea came to me while I was walking through Pottery Barn a few weeks ago. They had the most gorgeous decorated eggs with sequins and pretty beads. Initially, I was going to try to do the same, until I thought about using sprinkles and candy to coat them. The pretty pastel and bright colors are giving me all the spring vibes I need to push me thru March.
You probably already have a lot of these items in your kitchen:
* Easter eggs – I bought wooden ones from Amazon, but I am sure plastic ones will work just as well.
* White Icing
*Assorted sprinkles
George and I sat at the table and while I spread the icing on each egg he coated them with sprinkles. The confectionate sprinkles work better than the sugar ones. They coat the egg enough for you to not have so many bare spots. You can tell the eggs George helped do because they have missing sprinkles. Go figure! I think though as a mom it is more fun to have him help than for me to do it all and have perfect looking eggs. After all it is about making memories. I left the eggs to dry over night on the counter and then placed them in the basket the next day. These candy coated Easter eggs have sweetly smelled up my kitchen the last 2 weeks. They make such a pretty piece to just leave out. I plan on washing the icing off and letting George play with them in his kitchen post Easter.
