Happy Monday friends!  Well, it is official, WE ARE BUILDING A HOUSE!  They should break ground this week hopefully if the rain holds off.  This entire journey has been a few months in the making.  There were so many variables that had to line up and I can honestly say we have seen God’s hand answering each and every prayer along the way.  A few months ago, I mentioned Chris’s 83-year-old father moved in with us.  While it has been an adjustment, we are all finding our new normal around here but completely maxed out on space in our rental home.  With so much in the air last year regarding Chris’s job we really didn’t know what we needed to do about housing.  Once he resumed work here in FL it became apparent that there was no better time to buy than now.  We live in such a booming housing market here that it was now or never.   Florida is quickly becoming an escape for a lot of the northeast and even people on the west coast.  As a result, the demand here for housing is unprecedented.   Chris is fortunate enough to work for Toll Brothers, a luxury house builder so we are going with them to build our home.  The entire process has been so much fun and they have made it an enjoyable experience.

Last week, we were able to visit their design studio and spend 2 days picking out all the finishes for our home.  I was worried that Chris and I would butt heads about design options but was pleasantly surprised that we agreed on most of everything!  Today I am sharing my inspiration for our kitchen.  Our home design will be a coastal design so I really wanted to bring in those elements.  I feel like here in FL, the design is approachable and not too stuffy and I am here for that! 🙂

I’ve always wanted a white kitchen for years.  It is fresh and timeless but I also wanted to bring in another color.  We both fell in love with bringing in the color navy to the kitchen.  I feel like a navy and white kitchen design is fresh but also unique.  The navy really makes a statement and I love how it looks with the gold hardware we chose.  Our cabinets will all be white in the kitchen and our island/table will be navy.  I love that we were able to choose an expanded kitchen package to get an oversized island with a table attached to it.  It really utilizes the space well for the open kitchen/living room that we will have.  (You can watch the video of the model here to get an idea of what I’m talking about! )  We continued with the navy cabinets for our butler’s pantry.  In there they will be floor to ceiling navy! I went with a classic subway tile backsplash that will go all the way up to the ceiling.  We will have gold lantern style pendants hanging over the island along with a beautiful white apron sink that I just hope I can keep clean! 🙂  Our countertops will be a gorgeous quartz that has navy running through it with a white background.

You will find a few Pinterest pics on here of my inspiration.  I hope that this navy and white kitchen design shows that you can be bold and classic all at the same time!  Thanks so much for stopping by, I’m excited to bring you all on the process with us.
