Ethical Fashion Is Definitely In Fashion

The concept of ethical fashion is currently the most pressing issue facing the industry in the world at the same time and at the same time of course a trend that is being reproduced and spread – for many, perhaps only for communication reasons. The fact is that the world media as a forerunner and fashion houses and creators as a real force, are called to face the issue head-on, generously and at the same time not to discount the idea of creation and aesthetics.  A few weeks back I posted content for LUNA bags and chatted about their commitment to ethical fashion, today we can dive into a little bit more of what that means for the fashion industry.

The slogan of recycling and ethical fashion

Until now, an emerging embarrassment, or an over-impetus without well-established knowledge and philosophy, pervades the fashion industry – recent fashion weeks in Europe and New York testify to this. Few do it in the effortless and experienced way that, for example, the pioneer in fashion ethics Stella McCartney does. The logic is simple: new, recycled, and recyclable materials provide us with new ways to reduce waste and raw material use. It’s good for the environment and is not wasteful. From bamboo clothing to a wood watch, there is a lot to choose from.

The new circular materials will change the way we design, manufacture, use, and dispose of all goods. In the first section, the speakers will explore new industrial and production systems, from synthetic and new natural materials, as well as some “strange mixtures” that overturn the established ones. Our wardrobe may soon include clothes made from materials from organic waste or from the ocean and beaches.

According to the organization ” Global Fashion Agenda” which promotes the principles of ethical and sustainable fashion, fashion consumption is estimated to increase by 63% by 2030. The growing demand from developing countries translates into purchases of over 100 million tons of clothing and footwear per year. If you choose to buy second hand or from a sustainable brand, you are in fact saving the planet.

Who started this trend?

One of the first designers to embrace the sustainable fashion movement was punk priestess Vivienne Westwood. The 78-year-old British woman had realized early on the role of art and culture – and of course fashion – in mobilizing and raising public awareness about environmental protection. He embraced the small scale and began collaborating with local craftsmen and artisans, adopting the principles of sustainable development and implementing a broader environmental strategy that includes waste management, recycling, use of 100% renewable energy sources, and restriction of chemicals in the production of clothing. At the same time, he reduced the packaging for the transport of the house’s products and used ecological, without plastic materials.

In 2013, 60 celebrities posed in the specially designed “Save the Arctic ” T-shirt, and their photos were exhibited at Waterloo Station in London. The need is getting greater and with a little more knowledge, you can shop savvy to help save the world and still look great! All it takes is a little determination to succeed. Fashion lovers should embrace all types and styles and can start to see massive changes for the better.
