How To Style A Knit Skirt

With the approach of the holidays just a few short weeks away, now is the time to stock up on all the stretchy, knit pieces available.  The knit skirt is a great option when the weather is not quite sure what it wants to do.  It is one item that is easy to dress up or down and will receive as much mileage as a sweater style dress.  In a lot of ways the knit skirt can be a foundational piece for any wardrobe this fall and winter season.  How should a knit skirt be styled?

Because of its figure-hugging style, a knit skirt pairs beautifully with a slim-fitting turtle neck sweater.   My knit skirt shown here is Free People and is linked below! This classic look has a touch of luxury with timeless elegance.  By keeping your skirt option in the neutral territory such as black, navy, camel or gray, one can easily pair various printed turtle neck sweaters with it.

Opting for a fun sleeve on your sweaters and blouses is another fun way to style your knit skirt.  The flowing sleeves stand in contrast to the slim fit of the skirt and would be a great style for holiday parties when an occasion calls for something a little extra special! Contrary to what one might think, a chunky sweater that is not as slim looks great with a knit skirt.  Pair it with a pair of tall boots and the combination just might be the perfect Thanksgiving Day look!

Sweaters are not the only option for knit skirts, graphic t-shirts, cropped jackets, blazers, and silky camisoles are other great choices. For shoe options, lace-up boots, booties, riding boots, sneakers, and sandals can all be worn with them.

Knit skirts have the opportunity this year to be the newest breakout piece in any closet. After all, when a style can be both fashionable and comfortable, it is a winner!
