George and I just got back Saturday morning from visiting my sister in Charleston. We so enjoyed our stay. Charleston is definitely one of those cities I never tire of visiting. It is still baffling to me how my sisters and I are old enough to be mothers! How did that happen, yet here we are. I love watching them with their girls. Motherhood is so much easier when you do it together. Even though us sisters do not live close, we talk nearly every day. We talk about the ups and downs of being a mom. The kisses and tears make this job rewarding and challenging every day.
It struck me as I watched my sister wait patiently on her girls, getting them dressed, feeding them breakfast and loading them up in the car that we have to fight for joy during these days. There are so many opportunities through out the day to let that joy be sapped. Whether it is a sibling squabble, another bumped head, no nap time or other trying circumstances, there is always going to be something that wants to steal our joy as a mom. I find the days that I start with a devotional time are my best days. Praying and giving my day to God gives me a peace that I can handle whatever that day brings.
I am often reminded that the older George gets he will be able to tell if I am happy or not. If let the little things he does aggravate me he will be able to tell. I want to mother with joy regardless of my circumstances. I want George to remember these formative years that mom had smile on her face even during the hard days. Hard times are a part of life and motherhood can definitely have it’s hard moments but we always have a choice to choose joy.
If you are on the hunt for a great pair of jeans, then make sure to check these Mott and Bow ones out. I love that they have just a bit of stretch to make them comfy for running around with G. They run true to size. Also if you are in need to a good $10 tee, make sure to grab this one!!
Thanks so much for reading and stopping by! I hope your day is fabulous!

I love your entire outfit! Those shoes definitely give such a nice pop of color. Those jeans are really cute, and the sunglasses! I’m not a mom yet but even so, joy sometimes can be taken over by other emotions.
Great post about motherhood and such amazing photos of you and your son!

It sounds like you had a great trip. It’s always so weird when you have those moments of realization that you’ve grown up. I’ve had a few of those recently with my friends as we are starting to get married.
Sharing things with your sister is amazing!! Sisters are the best best friends ever
