My Toddler Summer Bucket List

Toddler Summer Bucket List

Happy Monday ya’ll! Today I thought it would be fun to round up my toddler summer bucket list for George. What is is about summer that makes you want to check off every single outdoor activity? For me, after going through our first winter, I cannot get enough of outside! This obsession has led me to create this toddler summer bucket list. Here are 10 ways that we plan on living it up during these warm months!

1. Spend a Day by the River.
I am not talking about an hour or two, I am talking about all day till your little one falls asleep from throwing too many rocks in the water! Of course, all my south Louisiana friends are going to find this impossible with the high temps this time of year, but for us here in upstate NY, the temps are just right. 🙂 A few weeks ago, a friend showed me some of the quaint spots close by where G can wade easily in the water and throw rocks. That is all little boys care about right?! I’m planning on an all day picnic by the river day soon!

2. Make Popscicles
Sure, you can easily buy them in a box but where is the fun in that? My wheels are already turning on all the delicious flavors George and I will whip up! Stay tuned to my instastories for more!

3. Set Up A Tent Outside
We might not actually camp, but there is nothing that George loves more than “hiding” and building “forts” with pillows. I figure that tent I have in his closet will be the perfect way to escape the sun and hide away with all his favorite stuffed animals.

4. Potty Train
Wait, this is probably not on George’s bucket list, but it IS on mine. I think he is ready and I am reading up on various methods to take the plunge. Its the perfect time for him to run around nearly naked anyways! 🙂

5. Plant An Herb Garden
George loves anything to do with water. This summer I want to teach him how to plant a few herbs and help me water them. The minute I pull out his little toy watering can, he will be more than ready. The fresh herbs will be a bonus in the kitchen!

6. Make A Bird Feeder
We have tons a birds and squirlls in the back yard. This easy DIY bird feeder got me excited to try this with George!

7. Have Lots Of Picnics
The Cornell Botanical Garden makes the perfect spot to throw down a blanket and spend the afternoon running around, feeding the fish and enjoying the gorgeous blooms. Picnics just say SUMMER!

8. Make Ice Cream Sandwiches
George and all of us have been on an ice cream kick lately. Oops! I am just blaming it on the warmer temps. With the Cornell Dairy producing a few of our favorite flavors, I want to make up a batch of our own ice cream sandwiches this summer. George will have a smile from ear to ear when I pull that black raspberry ice cream out. In his words its the purple ice cream.

9. Go To The Beach
Our family’s beach trip the first week of August cannot come fast enough. I just plain out miss the pretty white sand beaches and the gorgeous blue water Destin, FL. It will be loads of fun to have the all the cousins together!

10. Paint Rocks
George’s love for rocks and paint run deep so I figure why not mix the two, especially when we have an abundance of rocks by the streams here. They just might make good keepsakes for when we leave Ithaca next year!

So there you have it, my toddler summer bucket list. I would love to hear your favorite summer activities for toddlers! Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great week.
