4 Healthy Cookbooks From Amazon

4 Healthy Cookbooks From Amazon

Today I am sharing 4 healthy cookbooks from Amazon that you need in your kitchen. Now if you are like me, you might have a slight obsession with cookbooks! 🙂 Over the years, I have gotten really selective on the ones I buy. Recently, we have tried to drastically cut down our meat intake and focus more on plant-based meals. If you know my husband at all you know that this is a challenge. In his mind, a meal isn’t complete without meat. However, he mentioned at the start of the year that he wanted to make changes to what he ate and cut down on eating meat regularly. When I meal plan now, I make two meals a week with either organic ground turkey, beef, or fish. Chicken has become more of a turn-off after reading about everything they pump it with. The other weekly meals are vegetarian or vegan.

When I first started down the road of healthier meals this year, I needed a few good cookbooks for inspiration. These 4 cookbooks have given me plenty of ideas on how to incorporate more beans, greens, and various spices into our diet. Today on my first Wellness Wednesday post, I am going to break down what I LOVE about each cookbook. So if you are on the hunt for healthy cookbooks from Amazon, I have you covered.

1. How Not To Die Cookbook – Michael Greger M.D.
My dad first mentioned this cookbook over Christmas break. He had recently listened to Dr. Greger’s book How Not To Die and was raving about how insightful it was. You have to know my dad to find the irony in this. 2 years ago, he completely cut out sugar from his diet and went hardcore into exercise. This is from a guy who lived for desserts and enjoyed all the good, unhealthy Louisiana food. He completely did a 180 in his diet and has never looked back. To this day, I am still baffled at how he has done it and I am proud of him. When he mentioned this cookbook, I thought he had finished losing his mind! It is a completely vegan, no oil, no salt type cookbook. I was skeptical about purchasing it but after looking at it several times at the bookstore, took the plunge. You can definitely eat everything in this book and never gain a pound. It is lean and green. 🙂 His green smoothie is unbelievable and now has become part of our daily morning routine. Dr. Greger’s meals are for the most part fairly simple to make. I love that he has introduced more spices to my diet by incorporating his Savory Spice blend. I now season everything with it! If you are looking for someone to shed light from a medical perspective, Dr. Greger does just that at the beginning of this cookbook and it is fascinating to read about all the studies and research he has conducted over the years. I do add salt to his recipes because I just need to! 🙂

2. Feel Good Food – Giada
I have always been a Giada fan. From watching her on the Food Network to drooling over her delicious recipes, she is one cook I know I can always count on! This is a lightened-up version of her normally Italian, cheese-loaded fare. She has a lot of vegetarian recipes as well as fish and chicken recipes. She also has incorporated fun tips into her daily life and diet. If you are on the hunt for a cookbook that is not extreme this is a good start!

3. The Oh She Glows Cookbook – Angela Liddom
Ok, so I might be a bit obsessed with this cookbook. It is my most recent purchase and I have already made so many of the recipes. They have all been fantastic. This is a completely vegan cookbook that can easily win over the nonvegan. Her black bean enchiladas were a winner last week at our house. George exclaimed they were “so good” while eating them. Last night I made her Broccoli and Cashew Cheese burritos and was amazed at all the incredible flavor! If you are looking for ONE cookbook out of these 4 to get, this is the one I would recommend. Angela breaks down all the ingredients that you need to create a more healthy kitchen and lifestyle.

4. Good To Glow – Tali Shine & Steph Adams
I received this cookbook 2 years ago for Christmas and completely drooled over the gorgeous pictures. I love that the recipes are from fabulous boutique hotels throughout the world and various celebrities. The Date energy balls are still one of my favorite snack options when I need a little sweet afternoon treat. While most of the recipes are vegan or vegetarian there are a few meat options.

So there you have it, my favorite 4 healthy cookbooks from Amazon. These would make a great addition to your kitchen in promoting a healthier lifestyle and eating habits. I cannot say that will totally be 100% healthy all the time, but one day at a time I find myself making healthier choices! I have to say that I have more energy and do not get into as many slumps as I used to. I think the daily green smoothie and upping the plant-based proteins have been life-changing. What are some ways you maintain healthy eating?

I, too, am a cookbook fanatic. My husband and I are also trying to make healthy lifestyle changes. It has been challenging as well, with a “Meat Man” in the house. But, with creative, yummy recipes, he has opened up to more plant-based recipes.

This post was most helpful in assisting with new cookbooks to add to my arsenal. I look forward to diving into these one culinary adventure at a time!

    Thank you!
