6 Ways To Subtly Boost Your Appearance & Self Esteem

We all want to look our best, but of course, how we actually do so can be pretty elusive. While you’ll never be able to change your genetic structure, there are plenty of things you can do that will nudge you in the right direction to feeling good about yourself!  Some of these ways are obvious, such as paying money to get your hair styled at a top-quality salon. There are also other ways you can take a proactive approach that is more subtle but arguably just as powerful. It’s not all about the big changes; the small ones can have an impact too. In this blog, we’re going to take a look at six ways that will make a difference in how you feel about yourself.  These are excellent ideas to incorporate while we are living in a world of quarantine!

Fresh and Clear Skin

One of the things that people notice first is healthy skin. While this part of our body can be a little difficult to get under control from time to time, there are some things you can do that will help to have your skin positively glowing. Avoiding toxins like alcohol and cigarettes will help immeasurably; indeed, one of the most obvious benefits that people who give up drinking report is the effect that it has on their skin. Cold showers, while not comfortable, can give your skin a big boost — try it out!  Drinking a lot of water and watching your sugar intake can go a long way to achieving glowing skin.  It is amazing how my skin reacts to sugar when I binge on too much.  I always end up with breakouts, not to mention how awful I feel.

The Right Glasses

If you wear glasses, then the thing that people will see when they look at you are your glasses, and not necessarily your face. While you’ll primarily wear glasses so that you can see, you can also pick ones that compliment your appearance. If you’ve been wearing an old pair for far too long, then take a look at a selection of womens glasses, and get a pair that you love. You’ll notice the difference from the first moment that you put them on.  Personally, I drive with glasses and have to use them if I am reading from a distance.  Updating my frames every couple of years makes me feel like a new person!

Other Accessories

So your glasses can become a fashion accessory, and there are many other options that you can include in your look too. Adding some colorful and unique accessories can really add a lot to your sense of style. In the winter, it’ll be all about scarves and earmuffs. During the warmer months, you can take a look at adding beautiful jewelry and sunglasses to your look. When you’re looking for accessories, take a ‘less is more’ approach; they should aid your outfit, rather than steal the show.  I love easy hair accessories to elevate an everyday look.  Think headbands, barrettes, and cute scrunchies.

Going for a Run

Exercise can improve your appearance in many ways. First, it helps to keep your toned and fit; we all know how much better we look when we know that our body is in peak condition. Second, it helps to get the blood flowing and the lungs moving, which always results in something of a healthy glow. It can also get rid of any tiredness that you’re showing. And then there’s the matter of the endorphins that it releases in your body; when you’re swimming in happiness, it’ll be hard not to wear that smile that always helps when it comes to our appearance.

Getting a Good Night’s Sleep

Is there anything that a good night’s sleep can’t solve? Not in our book. If we have a night of tossing and turning, we wake up in a bad mood, and we always seem to look awful. While there’ll be times when you just can’t sleep, if it’s becoming a regular problem, then it’s important to do something about it. There are many things you can do to improve your sleep. Perhaps the best method is to go into it with intention. You can’t expect to just fall asleep the second you get in bed if you haven’t prepped for it. Take the time to slowly wind down your body and mind, create a peaceful atmosphere in your bedroom, and you’ll find that it’s much easier to hit the land of Nod.  I find the nights that I take a nice warm shower right before bed, then reading a good book I can drift off to sleep faster.  Writing out a to-do list for the next day also help ease my mind into sleep mode.

A Powerful Walk

Finally, remember that even if you were dressed to the nines, our look wouldn’t be anywhere near as impactful if you’re not striding with confidence. Having your head up and being secure in yourself can really change how people perceive you. If you’re finding this to be a challenge, then look at some ways that you can boost your confidence.   Great posture is an easy way to get started in feeling more confident about yourself.

Looks aren’t everything, but it would be a lie to say that they’re unimportant. When we’re looking at our best, it’s easier to stride forth with purpose and make our dreams come true. Incorporate the above tips into your lifestyle, and you’ll soon see that you’re feeling a little more confident!
