Full-scale parties might be off the agenda right now. But eventually, they will return. And when they do, you want to be ready.  With the holidays around the corner, now is the time to shop and be ready to sparkle at all the festive parties coming up! 🙂 In many ways, dressing for social events is more straightforward than for work. There are fewer rules you need to follow.  Even so, it can still be a challenge.  I always hate the feeling of either being overdressed or underdressed!  So what is the happy medium?  Not to worry – this post has got you covered. We’re going to run through how to rock it like a boss and your next party.

Do Something Bold

When dressing for a party, you want to do at least one bold thing. Things like plunging necklines, cropped tops, and dazzling colors can all immediately help you elevate your game and become the center of attention.  This look has a greater effect if you are more of the shy type in branching out and trying new styles!  You will get everyone talking!! 🙂

Wear Prints And Patterns

Patterns and prints are back in style according to many fashion magazines and retailers.  This is one of my favorite ways to dress for a party.  I love a good print mix.   It’s an excuse for you to whip out the stripes and polka dots and create something that looks both chic and daring.  Some women are even choosing deliberately clashing styles to make more of a statement.  If you do for prints and patterns, be sure to accessorize too. A simple, plain clutch will suffice.

Wear Overtly-Branded Items

I *heart” New York is perhaps the best example of a brand that embraces the concept of overt advertising. But in today’s market, there are many others, and many are much more suitable for partying.  Gucci, for instance, now makes sweaters with its logos plastered all over them in bold capital letters.  A large envelope style clutch with a designer monogram is another way to incorporate branded items.

Wear A Backless Dress

If you really want to make an impression, try wearing a backless dress.  I love the idea of a scoop back dress or bodysuit with a maxi skirt.  There is something elegant and timeless about this look.   It’s also a little daring and bold. But it looks stunning. And it means that you have an ever wider selection of dresses from which to choose.

Wear White

While the little black dress might be a staple of the party scene, wearing white has its benefits. For one thing, it is something you can pair with purple jewels to create more contrast. Furthermore, it also highlights your skin tone, helping to make you look more vibrant.

Wear A Glitzy Blazer

While mini-dresses or short skirts might be the order of the day for modern parties, wearing a glitzy blazer can elevate your entire look. Not only will it keep you warm if temperatures drop, but it also provides an appeal of its own, shimmering in the night light.

Wear A Dress With An Asymmetric Hem

Most dresses are straight up and down affairs, with relatively little room for experimentation. That’s not the case, though, with asymmetric hems. Here, one side of the skirt rides up higher than the other, creating a unique, elegant, and flowing look people will love.

Wear Floral Prints

Just like geometric prints, floral designs also help get you in the party mood. Wear them by themselves or paired with a plain blazer and clutch bag for the ultimate summer look.

Choose A Sequin Dress

Whenever celebrities stroll out onto the red carpet for an awards ceremony, at least half are wearing sequin dresses. Not only do they look great, but they’re also perfectly suited for the night. Artificial lights bounce off them beautifully, creating a glittering, shimmering effect.

Rock The Vintage Look

Are you a bit of a vintage girl? If so, then why not sport the vintage look? Mostly, this means choosing pastel colors from the past and pairing them with modern accessories and clothing options. So, for instance, you could wear lime-green shoes with a black dress.

Dressing like a boss at your next party, therefore, is easier than you think. We’ve run through several ideas that are hot right now that you might want to try. Remember, parties, especially holiday events are ultimately about having fun. So if you don’t feel comfortable running with these ideas, then just choose something different. Nobody is going to judge you.
