Spring Trends To Incorporate Into Your Closet

Happy Wednesday ya’ll. Today since we are one day away from being in March, I thought it would be fun to talk about the spring trend forecast for the upcoming season. If your thoughts immediately turned to pastels, florals, ruffles then you are on the right track! This adorable ruffle sleeve blouse is giving me all the spring feels right now as we are expecting 9 inches of snow on Friday. Yep, you read that right my Louisiana friends. Be thankful for the 80 degree weather you are experiencing! 🙂 Let’s dive into this season hottest trends to incorporate into your closet.

While I was in New York city for fashion week last fall, I got to see first hand what was coming down the runway. Now it is finally time to have a chat about it! For the past few seasons,ruffles have been big and they are not going any where this year. In fact, they are stronger than ever. Think ruffled dresses, skirts, tops and sweaters. The ruffled trend is one I am especially fond of because it can take a simple blouse and make it more of a statement piece. Ruffles can also take a humble tee and elevate it for a strong date night look. If you have bought into this trend the last few season, you can still get your money’s worth from those purchases. Score!

Pastels were all over the runway this fall. Think light blues, pinks, yellow and lavender and you will be headed in the right direction. Basically Easter egg colors! 🙂 How appropriate! Even though these colors are delicate they can still be strong. I love a bold color paired with a lighter color for a balanced look. A bold red pant with a pastel pink sweater is a favorite combo in my closet. These pastel shades are perfect when paired with a fun ruffled piece or a business structured look.

There is something about spring that seems to have everyone gravitating towards stripes, and why your beloved striped tee will always be in vogue, checks were all the rage on the runway. While often relegated to the sidelines for the fall and winter season, the runways this year show us that checks can be worn year round. From bright gingham prints to the classic heritage check this pattern can be taken from the dull colors of fall to the soft tones of spring. This trend is easily styled mixed with another print or paired simply with jeans or shorts.
